niles is funny in its own little way. so is the holy spirit festival. and for that matter, the whole xavier homecoming thing too.

cats + hot weather = bad

what was with all of that hot weather? it's only may. it's not supposed to get that hot here. but i'll take 100 degrees with no humidity over 85 degrees with 100% humidity any day.

babysitting is amusing, but slowly taking over my life. whenever any of the kids or the parents see me, they always ask what kids i'm with. i have a life outside of babysitting too! but it's still fun.

i need to start working out.

i've officially graduated from undergrad. it feels...weird. i've spent the last 5ish years preparing and working for this, and now that it's happened, i feel sort of empty in a way. i'm in limbo right now until i leave for roanoke for the next two years.

new orleans was awesome though. i got to hang out with my ayo, kourtney, jeff, nichole, sidney. i hadn't realized how much i missed them and how we all just understand things and experienced the same stuff at xavier that other people just don't get. i wish tony and kristin and steph coulda been there to complete the reunion. it was still so much fun though. i'm kinda sad i didn't get a chance to talk to some of my professors while i was there, especially dr. bonner now that he's leaving, but overall, it was good. and tavis smiley was an amazing speaker. too bad i didn't record his speech.

i need to figure out housing for next year.

mercedas's first communion today. it was so cute and nostalgic in a way. i remember all those catholic school days. someday i want to have my own kids get all dressed up for stuff like that. maybe. me, jules, and dominik had an awesome scrabble game back at the house. and there was tons of excellent food.

graduation next week! yay!

do i want the spurs or the hornets to win? the spurs have been my team for a long time now (since before jeff..i don't like them just because he happens to be from san antonio), but i'm really excited about new orleans being good this year since i was there for 4 years and they were so so so bad. so which is it? too bad they wound up having to play each other this round. the two teams i like are playing each other already and the teams i don't like are playing each other. i would've liked it better if the hornets and spurs could've met in the western conference finals. ah well.

so today begins the craziest month ever:
may 3- cousin's first communion
may 10- my graduation in new orleans
may 17-18- holy spirit festival
may 25- cousin's moreau graduation
may 30- sister's graduation in massachusetts
mother's day and assorted birthdays are also thrown in there too.

babysitting is...well...babysitting. an effective form of birth control as my aunt likes to say.

so much up in the air like where i'm going to be living next year, how it's going to get paid for, when we're moving here at home, when i'm moving to virginia, where my stuff is gonna go, etc.

my new fav song is a country song. siiigh. i'm slowly being converted.

highlights of my maryland/virginia trip:
-dining out

-free food at chevy's
-street kings
-breakfast at la madeline

-walk around grosvenor park

-me cooking dinner (smothered chicken, broccoli, texas toast, rice)
-buying brideshead
-texting selene about the ice cream

last night was fun.

we went to the usuhs (jeff's school) dining out which was a formal ball thing. there was dinner (what exactly is broccolini?), guest speakers, lots of military formality stuff (toasts, colorguard, singing national anthem). and dancing later. yay for finally getting the cupid shuffle to play!! i was surprised how many people knew it, and then jeff had already taught it to a lot of his friends. haha and there were a bunch of people learning it from us too. so much fun! i'm glad that it has spread outside louisiana. my feet hurt a lot though. everyone looked really nice in their dress blues. i have to say though, of the female outfits, i liked the airforce dress the best, and of the men, the army was best. it was just nice to relax last night and have fun, especially w/all the stressful stuff going on at home. twas an excellent night all around.

easter! so much food! wow. this year of course we did the whole traditional massive easter egg hunt at my grandmother's house with all the cousins and extended family. i must say, the hunting of eggs is much more exciting than eating the candy. who doesn't love rushing to get as much of something as possible, especially when everyone else is trying to get the stuff too? fun fun. my sisters and i and selene hunted still this year, but xavier and jeff didn't. i will never be too old to easter egg hunt and hit at pinatas. although it's been a really long time that a pinata lasted long enough for me to hit with all the little kids there are. so we had the egg hunt and then the huge lunch. so classic. our family has been doing this since my mom and her siblings were kids. i love it.

oh and micquie made a surprise trip home from massachusetts! yay! so she's here and jeff too. i is happy. and my birthday is coming. and then i get to go to maryland in two weeks.

still no word from grad schools. this is making me increasingly nervous. is it good that i haven't heard yet? or bad? or just too early to have heard anything at all? i just want to know. even getting rejection letter would at least let me start coming up with a plan b. maybe i should just make a plan b anway. at this point i'm so pessimistic about the whole thing. i just don't see myself getting in anywhere. the majority of the colleges with my program near jeff are super selective, so if i wanted to apply to schools there, i had to apply to these ridiculously difficult to get into programs. maybe i should've applied to more virginia schools. too late now unless i apply to vtech. which maybe i will. i hate this waiting game.

babysitting, babysitting. fun times. kids are great. "but wait. the puppies can't get in the water without lifejackets. we need to make them lifejackets. the lifejackets have to match the color of their fur. and the sun is really bright, so they could get sunburned. they need hats too." so the stuffed animals got lifejackets and hats made out of paper before we could have a boat race. that wasn't really in water, just on the floor. but still, you know? they had to be safe.

next week i get to do the live-in nanny thing for 4 days. it's going to be crazy.

jeff is coming in a month!!!!
